Armatures can be purchased from Alicia’s web-store (password protected for dogtown class students), or students can make their own armatures, but they have to be the same scale and style. Contact paul@dogtownsculptors.org to get the link and password to purchase portrait armatures from Alicia, or get images/notes on building your own armatures.
Clay
Oil Clay (for two 1/2 scale portrait sketches): 10 lbs, J-MAC Classic Medium, any color you prefer. Alicia indicates it’s better if we all use the same oil clay. Available from various online sources.
Water Clay (for one 3/4 scale portrait): 25 lbs, use a water clay body you know and like that is well suited for modeling. If you haven’t used water clay before, Alicia recommends and is currently using “Sculpture Raku”. WED and Soldate 60 are two water clay bodies often used at the studio. WED is not available at ClayPeople, but you can get it at Douglas & Sturgess. You can order 25 lbs of any water clay for the class available from ClayPeople at cost through Paul.
